Bright but don't last December 24, 2008 A. Knowles (Maine) These headlights are quite bright and give a lot of light but they only lasted two months. I bought them from a local auto parts dealer for $50 and thought they might last a little longer than that. If you have a lot of extra money floating around for headlights every two months then go ahead and purchase but if not then choose something else.
bb: buyer beware December 15, 2008 M. Goodall (vancouver wa) great performance, but terrible durability. The 4th bulb in less than a year needs replacement. Quandry. Need the good lighting, but can't keep spending the money.
Starts off bright, dims out in 6 months, goes out in 12 months. December 9, 2008 Sonny Chiba (Seattle, WA) Pros: Cheap, initially bright. Cons: Durability (hence the you get what you pay for). Thought I'd give these a whirl. They start off really brilliantly bright, but like many reviewers here have noted they start to dim out after a few months. If you don't mind changing out your bulbs approximately every 12 months you should be good to go. As a side note, these bulbs just went out on me tonight which prompted this review. My suggestion for a good alternative would to check out the PIAA line that Amazon now carries. You pay more, but you get the equivalent life increase. 3 stars for price and initial 6 month performance. 2 stars off for durability and the fact that Sylvania in my opinion obviously designed these bulbs to start off "20%" brighter but failed to have any lasting power.
Nice white lights...Really Good bang for the buck. Who needs HIDs? December 7, 2008 Linanas (Lafayette, CA) Recommended. I wanted to get the whitest emission like the HIDs, which sells for $200 plus a pop. I'm perfectly satisfied and happy with these lights. It is as described on the package. A complete upgrade from my previous sylvania's. It's worth spending a little extra for these lights. I can see things a lot more clear and better without using my headlights. I think I might change my headlights and purchase the same exact ones made for headlights.
Relatively short life-expectancy December 5, 2008 Not so happy customer (Columbia, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've purchased a pair of those SilverStar Ultra in January 2008. With minimal night-time driving and no daytime running lights feature to my vehicle, those headlight bulbs have gone out on me by December 2008 (total of less than 12 months of life-expectancy). In my opinion not very worth it considering its price, even though they are brighter than regular 9006 headlight bulbs. You could probably buy a pair of regular 9006 headlight bulbs which cost half the price, and they might last you at least 5 years or longer.
